December, 2006 - Nyarr Pirates! - Anne Bonney - Devil's Cocktail

Anne Bonney

Anne Bonney was a pirate who frequented the Caribbean from 1718 - 1720.  She was captured in November, 1720, and at her trial it was said that she was "profligate, cursing and swearing much, and very ready and willing to do anything."

The Drink:

Devil’s Cocktail
1 oz. tawny port
¾ oz. dry vermouth
1 dash lemon juice
1 twist of a lemon peel
Stir well over ice cubes and strain into a cocktail glass.
Drinkability: 5 (despite initial skepticism, actually quite tasty)
Drunkability: 3 (all alcohol, but also the fourth drink of the evening, will probably sneak up and bite you on the ass, aka a cliff drink)
Taxic Diversity: 3 (port and lemon juice and indian food weirdness)
Accessibility: 4 (apparently port only lasts on the shelf for a few months)
Priority for Conservation: 5
Comments: FR: “It tastes like Indian food”, everyone agrees
