2008 - Edith Wharton - The Avenue

B. 1862 – d. 1937. Edith Wharton was born to a wealth family in New York City. Aside from being a gifted writer she was also an accomplished interior decorator and landscape architect. She even designed her homes in lennox, MA. She spend much of her life living in France and wrote many of her books (including The House of Mirth) while there. Wharton was the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for literature with The Age of Innocence.

The Cocktail:
The Avenue 
1 oz. bourbon
1 oz. calvados
1 oz. passion fruit juice
1 dash grenadine
1 dash orange flower water
Shake with ice; strain into glass.

Comments:
No one would go out of their way to make this again. The passion fruit juice more difficult to obtain than the alcohol (thank you Zabars).
