2008 - Poker Alice - Fedora Punch

Born Alice Ivers in 1853, “Poker Alice” was an American Outlaw, and arguably one of the first female gangsters. During her life, she was a gambler, a bootlegger and a madam. She was especially lucky with cards, and was a professional poker player. She even owner her own poker house. Alice was married three times, and each of her husbands were gambers as well, though none with
her luck. She carried a .38 with her at all times, and smoked cigars.
As Alice got older, she put aside the clothes of her youth and decided instead to wear a men’s khaki shirt and a frayed hat. She was a bootlegger during the prohibition, and ran a “house of ill-repute” for the men stationed at Fort Meade. She died in 1930, in Rapid city. Alice is still memorialized today in Deadwood’s “Days of ’76″ parade.
